Damaged rail repaired

Struggle Ihuhua

TransNamib moved swiftly to repair rail infrastructure between the Mariental and Salzbrunn stations last week according to its spokesperson, Struggle Ihuhua.

He said, “The railway line that was damaged last week due to torrential rains was repaired and subsequently opened on Friday, 3 April and TransNamib trains are now running as per normal schedule.”
TransNamib announced last week that the recent heavy rains in the south of the country caused serious damages to rail infrastructure, where parts of the network between Hardap and Salzbrunn stations was washed away. According to Ihuhua, the track is approximately 21 kilometres north of Mariental. Said Ihuhua, “We thank our customers and stakeholders for their support and understanding during the restoration of our rail operations.”
