The Spanish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ignacio Ybáñez on visit to the Penduka project on the banks of Goreangab dan in Katutura. The deputy minister visited Penduka as one of the projects supported by the Spanish Collaboration. The Spanish envoy conveyed his King’s congratulatory message to Dr Geingob at his inauguration.

Last weekend, the Spanish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ignacio Ybáñez, attended, as special envoy of the Spanish Government, the inauguration ceremony of President Hage Geingob, and the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the independence of Namibia.

During his visit, he had the opportunity to meet the new authorities, reiterated the commitment of Spain to the future of Namibia, and expressed his satisfaction for the long-standing friendship with Spain.
On the occasion of this important celebration, His Majesty the King Felipe VI of Spain sent a congratulatory message and conveyed his “most sincere wishes for the personal wellbeing of His Excellency Dr. Hage Geingob and for the peace and prosperity of the people of Namibia”. During his stay in the country, Mr. Ybáñez had a very tight schedule that included visits to two projects that have been supported by the Spanish Cooperation over the last few years. He visited the Penduka project where he had the opportunity to meet the beneficiaries who received training within this project, and who are now able to generate their own incomes. The second project encompasses the improvement of housing and services in informal settlements in urban and peri-urban areas and has been executed by the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia and the Namibian Action Housing Group.
