Organic Groove to rock Windhoek

Organic Groove will be performing at the Franco Namibia Cultural Centre in Windhoek on 4 November. Organic Groove, an established band, is set to rock the stage tonight, 4 November at the Franco Namibia Cultural Centre (FNCC) as part of the Acoustic Friday concerts. The band has a unique sound and fuses the Australian Didgeridoo, the African Drum and the European Guitar into a harmonic, tangible whole, creating new possibilities for cultural explorations.
Organic Groove consists of Gerhard Beyleveld (Didgeridoo), Richard Redecker (Lead Guitar and Vocals), Noddy Alfred (African Percussion), Jean-Pierre Ntsika (Bass) and Guichont Bikoumou (Drums).
The band decided not to over-conceptualise their material, but rather allow each individual musician and instrument to harmonise and express creativity without dominating.
Consisting of an eclectic mix of didgeridoo, guitar, bass and percussion, their original repertoire includes songs of the desert, love and the long road that lies between.
The band has featured at concerts like the 2010 Old Mutual Jazz Encounters where they wowed audiences, at the Concert in the Courtyard in May this year, and between the dunes next to a flowing Kuiseb River at Gobabeb’s Open Day in April.
“The easy listening repertoire of the group includes tunes reminiscent of a more aesthetic philosophy, celebrating life for life’s sake, without excluding the realities of everyday challenges. Musical genres easily identified in the spontaneous melodies are African Kwela tunes, American folk-rock and Western Jazz improvisations,” said Irmgard Röder, communication officer of FNCC.
The show starts at 20:00 at the FNCC Terrace and entrance fee is N$30.
