(Photograph provided by the German Embassy.)The German Embassy in Namibia donated sports equipment to the Namib High School in Swakopmund and the Kamwandi Junior Secondary School in Henties Bay recently. The equipment consisted of a high jump mat as well as netball and soccer balls.
The aim of this donation is to support athletics structures and sports activities in the Erongo region.
The Kamwandi Junior Secondary School will use the donated balls at the Swakopmund Cluster Schools League games, while the Namib High School can make good use of the high jump mat in preparation for the “zonal athletics”.
The equipment was handed over to the vice-principal of the Namibia High School, Annegret Sander, by Hans-Christian Mahnke, cultural desk officer of the German Embassy in Namibia.
The donation by the Federal Foreign Office was made within the framework of its sports promotion programme which supports the development of sport in Namibia by, amongst others, seconding sport experts, donating sport equipment and offering training courses for coaches at various sport schools and universities in Germany.
