Exuberant damsels raise curtain on ladies soccer

Launched at the end of 2009, Galz & Goals is the first national project to entice young females into competitive soccer to provide a feeder pool for the senior ladies soccer league. Soccer for women is fast becoming an important sport with the Talent Identification trials for the national women soccer team starting weekend in Windhoek. The national team that is selected after this weekend, will play a presentation match against the Swaziland national women soccer team on Independence Day, 21 March 2015. Through the Namibian Football Association’s women’s desk, dedicated under-13 and under-15 girls football leagues have been established where girls are able to play organised football on a weekly basis. Some 1500 girls now play regularly in the Galz & Goals league.
