Archers in Tsumeb

Francois Marais: Archer Francois Marais completed his FAA Level 1 coach’s course successfully

After a successful AFRO Pumps Shoot a fortnight ago, archers are gearing up for the second competition of the year. The Moruti Spar Shoot in Tsumeb is set to take place this Saturday at the Tsumeb Golf Club with most of the country’s top athletes expected to participate.

The tournament once again includes both re-curve and compound divisions, with the majority of archers competing in the latter. In total, the participants will battle it out in ten different shooting divisions, ranging from master men to U13 boys and girls. The 720 qualification rounds are scheduled to begin at 8:00 with the elimination rounds following shortly thereafter. Meanwhile the Archery Association of Namibia (AAN) announced that Francois Marais and Rika Agenbach have passed the FAA Level 1 coaches examination last week. The course was held under the supervision of Namibian national team coach und the most highly qualified trainer in the country, Marja Woortman. The pair is now allowed to train all target archery athletes. The course covered topics such as archery skills, safety, common problems, teaching exercises and a special focus on disabled archers.
