Seven referees make the FIFA grade

Renowned referee Reinhold Shikongo leads the Namibian match officials list on the FIFA Referees radar for 2014 which includes new face Eneas Shikongo while Queen Manga failed to make the list.
Late last year, the NFA Referees’ Committee identified 15 match officials to FIFA for accreditation for the 2014 Calendar Year and on Monday, Absalom Goseb of the NFA Referees Desk revealed a list of 10 approved and accredited names by FIFA for consideration in 2014.

Reinhold Shikongo once again made the list as a referee and is re-joined by two other revered names in Helmut Andreas (Walvis Bay), Jonas Shongedi (Oshakati). The impressive Daniel Shinana (Grootfontein), Reinhold Malima and Ananias Kangandi both from Windhoek, all failed to make the list.
David Shaanika (Tsandi), Benedictus Nashenda, Matheus Kanyanga, Isaskar Boois, (All Windhoek), Alfeus Shipanga (Rundu) and Hendrick Swartbooi (Berseba) once again  also made the list as well the 34-year-old  Eneas Shikongo who officiated at the COSAFA U/20 Championships in Lesotho in December 2013 is the only new name to the list. Rundu’s Jesaya Kapenda failed to make the list  upon FIFA’s final assessments and considerations.
Disappointingly, the only women football referee and former Brave Gladiators captain Queen Manga, who was also up for consideration did not make the cut and according Goseb, the lack of other females’ officials in the country could be the reason.
