Namibia’s U19 cricket national team put up some great performances during their tour to Zimbabwe which took place from 8 to 11 February in Harare.
The three game series was part of Namibia’s preparations ahead of the U19 Africa championships which doubles as a world cup qualifier scheduled to begin this Saturday in Tanzania. During the first game of the series, Zimbabwe bowled Namibia out for 144 and looked to win easily. However, Namibia fought back extremely well and showed serious character. The guests had their opponents at 135/9 with just 3 overs to spare. Unfortunately for Namibia, Zimbabwe just managed to pull through.

The Namibian youngsters got their revenge during the second game. They reached 252 runs for four wickets off their 50 overs. The team eventually dismissed Zimbabwe for 212 runs off 48 overs, taking a 40-run victory. The win was even more impressive, considering the fact that Zimbabwe is a test nation.
Unfortunately, the U19’s were unable to defeat Zimbabwe in a close series decider on Wednesday. Namibia departed to Tanzania on Thursday. After a rest day on Friday, they will kick-off their campaign against hosts Tanzania on Saturday.
