BoN awards bursaries to undergraduate and postgraduate students

The Bank of Namibia (BoN) awarded eleven bursaries to undergraduate and postgraduate students. This is part of the Bank’s corporate social investment and responsibility policy initiatives.
The focus of the Bank’s bursary scheme is to make a meaningful contribution to the country by developing skills and strengthening the capabilities in the fields of Economics, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Banking and Information Technology.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor, Ebson Uanguta said, “education opens up the door to endless possibilities and empowers people to make meaningful contributions in both their personal lives and indeed for the country at large”.
He further emphasized that education represents the single most important factor in economic development, for it is knowledge that drives nations. He also stressed that in order to succeed in today’s competitive environment, students must be equipped with advanced employable skills way beyond literacy.
 The undergraduate bursary receivers  for 2015 are: Paulus Kooper, Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the Polytechnic Namibia; Wihelmina Nangobe,  Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of Namibia; Michela Pakare,   Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of Namibia; Johan Blom,   Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of Namibia; Milka Haiyambo,  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the University of Namibia; Dumeni Jolonimu,  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the University of Namibia; Daniel Nicodemus, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance at the Polytechnic of Namibia; Rachel Nghifikwa, Education: Mathematics & Science at the University of Namibia; Manfred Mukosho, Education: Mathematics & Physical science at the University of Namibia; Nickson Adolf, Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology at the University of Namibia.
The only postgraduate student for 2015 is Justina Mukoloshi, Post Graduate Study in Accounting studying towards Charted Accounting at the University of Pretoria.
To date, the Bank of Namibia has availed 60 undergraduate bursaries of which 41 students have completed their studies and 19 students are still studying at various universities. The 11 new bursary holders will join the other 19 students undertaking undergraduate studies at the different respective and credible institutions of higher learning.
