Namibia Breweries last week donated 360 cases of Vigo soft drinks to the learners at the two schools catering for sensory deprived children. The value of the drinks exceeds N$55,000. The School for the Hearing Impaired and the School for the Visually Impaired are two specialised educational institutions that ensure children with hearing and seeing difficulty have access to education and that they complete their schooling just like the learners in any conventional mainstream school. Namibia Breweries is a regular benefactor of these two school, as well as the Moreson School in Khomasdal for learners with mental disabilities.

The schools – which take care of children with visual, hearing and mental disabilities – receive a monthly donation of soft drinks which they sell to raise additional funds and to enjoy at their annual school activities.  Venessa Mwiya, O&L Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator: “NBL has been proudly supporting the project for the past 14 years as it resonates very well with our purpose of ‘creating a future, enhancing life’.  In addition to supporting the schools with soft drinks, we have also extended our support by printing name boards for the three schools, as well as cleaning their sports fields to make it safer for the children.”  The Head of Department at the School for Hearing Impaired, Ms. Husselmann thanked the Breweries saying “these soft drinks keep us refreshed, while at the same time it gives us the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for our school. We sincerely appreciate NBL’s commitment to our schools.”
