Team Kia’s Freyer pedals to the top

KIA Elite rider Martin Freyer continued his impeccable form from where he left of last year when he kicked of the year with a blast, when he clinched the overall top spot during the first race of the Nedbank/WPP Cycling Series last weekend.

The talented rider from Windhoek, who also ended the day on top of the U23 category, completed the 120 kilometre long route near Dordabis with an excellent time of 3:03:50.71 hours. The second overall place went to Ingram Cuff (3:03:52.39), which earned him the first place in the Elite Men category. Coast Seibeb had to settle for third (3:04:05.17), while Stellenbosch based Heiko Redecker (3:04:45.93) and Freyer’s Team Kia teammate Michael Pretorius (3:04:51.75) completed the top-five overall. Pretorius was the second fastest U23 rider of the day. Meanwhile Irene Steyn was once again the stand-out rider in the Elite Women class, clocking in at 2:47:58.13 after 100 kilometres. Cherie Vale finished second (2:49:33.17) while third place went to Hester Prins (3:11:04.71). The other results were as follows: B-Cat Men (60 km):1. Johan Mouton; 2. Brian Key; 3.
