Bidvest Round of 32 clashes this weekend

Windhoek’s Java-Java and Swakopmund based Blue Boys emerged victors of their respective 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup promotional play-offs held at Mariental Stadium over the weekend. The Khomas regional football division side Java-Java were involved in deciding tie, for the second division winners, against Rehoboth based Hardap regional winners, Spiders and after 90 minutes of action last weekend at the Mariental Stadium, Java-Java proved to be too good for Spiders as they won the encounter 3-1 to book their place in the place in last 32 Round action which takes place this coming weekend at Windhoek and Tsumeb.

Java-Java will now face Otjozondjupa regional winners Otjiwarongo FC at at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday. Former Premier League side Blue Boys from Swakopmund, competing in the Southern Stream First Division play-offs, were the overall winners as they triumphed over Windhoek United in the final match to take their place in another Sam Nujoma Stadium billed clash against UNAM. On their way to be crowned champions, Blue Boys edged out Ramblers 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw and the went on to beat Spoilers 3-1 in the quarter finals before dispatching Try Again 4-1 in the semifinals. Windhoek United started off with a 1-0 victory over Spartans and in the semifinals crushed Desert Rollers 5-1.
The Round 32 matches will be played at Sam Nujoma Stadium and Oscar Norich Stadium in Windhoek and Tsumeb respectively. This year’s man of the match from the Round of 16 will walk away with N$2000, while N$5000 has been reserved for the Man of the Match winner during the final match of the competition, to be voted by the media. The Round of 16 will be contested on 27-28 February as well on 01 March 2015, with the quarter finals set for the weekend of 27-29 March 2015. The semifinal will hold on 24-26 April 2015 with the final match, will be contested on 30 May 2015 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Late on Thursday afternoon the NFA advised that the kick-off times for the Last-32 Round matches that takes place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, have been changed. The matches were initially scheduled to start from 14h00 on both days but due to “consistent and continuous power outages at the monumental venue in the heart of Katutura, the organizers felt it necessary to move the games to earlier times to avoid blackouts during the late afternoon games. Therefore on Saturday, action will now start at 13h00 between Swakopmund FC and Real Fighters, to be followed by Otjiwarongo FC against Java-Java (15h00). And the match of the weekend between Tura Magic and Orlando Pirates will close of the day at 17h00. On Sunday, 01, February, Eleven Arrows and PUBS FC will kick off the action at 13h00, before UNAM and Blue Boys clash (15h00) and another local derby involving two premiership sides Civics and Rebels, will have Khomasdal surely divided at 17h00. At the prestigious Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb, times remains the same with Young Chiefs and Ogongo United   to kick off the action 10h00; Oshikoto NAMPOL versus Omaheke NAMPOL at 12h00; Cuca Tops vs African Stars at 14h00; Tigers vs Western Stars at 16h00; Shooting Stars vs Black Africa at 18h00 and another all-premiership action between Citizens and Benfica at 20h00, all on Saturday, 31 January. On Sunday, 01 February, at 09h00: Blue Waters vs Vietnam Rangers; 11h00, Touch & Go vs Ohangwena NAMPOL; 13h00, Mighty Gunners vs Kangweru Black Tops and the final at the Copper Town will see United Stars and Julinho Sporting FC in a Rundu Derby at 15h00.
