Amateur teams vying for Bidvest Cup places

A number of football matches were held across the country as amateur teams duel it out to compete in this year’s edition of the Bidvest Cup competition.
Kavango East’s Kangweru Black Tops, Zambezi’s Shooting Stars and Western Stars of Kavango West are regional champions’ of the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup while Oshana, Omusati and Oshikoto regions’ finals were curtailed by rain during the preliminary stage at the weekend.

Western Stars beat Hamaleevi FC 2-0 to advance to the Round of 32 stage of the lucrative competition. In the semifinals, Stars thrashed Mupini United 4-1 while Hamaleevi trounced Kefas Kemanya United 3-1.
At the Rundu Stadium last weekend, Kangweru Black Tops were winners following their 5-2 win over Divayi United in the final match of their regional 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup. Tops reached the final with a commanding 2-0 win over Kavango United while Divayi United were 4-2 victory over Special Eleven.
Shooting Stars were crowd champions of the Zambezi Region after a 2-1 victory over Space Age. Stars were earlier in the day, 1-0 winners over Black Buffalo and Space Age edged out Rocano King Rangers by the same score line.
At Onayena in the Oshikoto Region, Oshikoto NAMPOL will face Ondangwa United in the final match to be contested over the weekend. NAMPOL reached the final by ousting Safile United 13-12 on penalties after a goalless draw, while United were a narrow 1-0 winners over Onathinge United.
Oshana regional second division play-offs at the Oshakati Independence Stadium saw Vietnam Rangers and African Motto involved in a thrilling semifinal match which in the end Rangers won 3-2 while Khuse FC and Onelago United also produced a riveting game which the former won narrowly, 2-1.
In the //Karas Football Region Second Division, the final will be on this weekend 2015 between Real Fighters FC and Youngsters FC Fighters beat Dates Eleven 2-0 while Youngsters were 3-2 winners over Atlanta Bucs.
