Ideas worth spreading given a platform

TEDxWindhoek is making a come back on 27 March 2015 under the theme “Playing Beyond”, innovators, inventors, cutting edge thinkers, youth, scientist, artists and just about anyone with a local idea worth spreading were encouraged to apply as speakers. Alisa Amupolo, Licensee/Curator of the event said that Windhoek is among the fastest growing cities on the continent, and as a capital city it remains a centre of attraction filled with a hub of ideas, and a flow of talent and human capital from all walks of life is flocking to the centre continuously bringing with it a unique perspective to the development value chain in the country.

“It is once again our desire to pursue and harness the potential of those change makers who are shaping eco-systems within their disciplines by providing a platform for their ideas to be heard,” said Amupolo. Namibia will experience a full TEDx event for the first time, which will includae four unique sessions, 16 speakers and popular TED Talks videos from various disciplines spreading ideas with a unique local and global audience. The event promises to spark deep discussion seeking sustainable, new and innovative approaches to daily life challenges. The deadline for speakers has already closed but Lelanie Basson, Co-Organiser explained that are looking for ideas that stimulate transformative thinking, have a positive impact on the world, benefit a specific group of people, the country or the entire earth.
“The time has arrived for Namibian ideas to take flight globally,” concluded Basson Candidates who have been selected from the applications received, will be contacted to deliver a live pitch. The speakers along with the venue, and full programme will be announce during February 2015. Tickets are estimated to sell at a cost of N$900 to attend the full day programme per person.
