Global Research Council Summit

Namibia’s science commission scored a major hit when it organised the African Summit of the Global Research Council (GRC) in partnership with the South African National Research Foundation. The summit, supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the German Research Foundation, was held in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. The summit was convened to facilitate and coordinate the main themes identified by the Global Research Council Governing Board for 2015, i.e. Research Funding for Scientific Breakthrough; and Building Research and Education Capacity. The meeting included representatives from a large number of science granting councils and other important stakeholders.  CEO of the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology, Dr Eino Mvula addressed the summit saying it serves as a strategic platform to exchange information concerning operational strategies of the GRC participants, to discuss international collaboration and to define the role of cooperation amongst research councils
