Jazz captures the soul at Windhoek Festival

It goes without saying that music really is a universal language uniting so many people who flocked to the Hage Geingob stadium for this year’s Windhoek Jazz Festival. Thousands yet again filled the seats and the field in support of local talent and for the chance to see one of Africa’s music icons, Mali-born Salif Keita and South African Afro-pop band Freshly Ground. Namibian talent included performances from the likes of Big Ben, Erna Chimu, Uncle, Shishani and Mr Bones.  Freshly Ground had the crowd on their feet but the real highlight of the night came when Salif Keita rounded off the show with a soulful performance that moved the audience.
